WELCOME TO ROOSEVELT RESIDENCES

The Roosevelt Residences is a new 50-unit, multi-family affordable housing community under development in the Cornhill neighborhood in the City of Utica.

A property of the Utica Municipal Housing Authority (UMHA), the development offers a mix of 1, 2, 3, and 4-bedroom options in 24 duplex or stacked flat buildings across 11 sites throughout the neighborhood.

The development’s main location, the site of the former Roosevelt Elementary School on Brinckerhoff Avenue, will include a brand new Resident Center including:

  • Event Space
  • Fitness Room
  • Laundry Facilities
  • Management & Support Services Offices

Each unit is rent restricted and affordable to persons or families with income levels at or below 60% of the area median income. Section 8 rent-assisted units are available and Section 8 vouchers are accepted.

  • 7 of the units are ADA-adaptable and available for those with mobility impairments (5 units) and vision or hearing impairments (2 units)
  • 8 units are reserved for permanent supportive housing for homeless veterans and the chronically homeless

The UMHA estimates that the initial units at the development to be available for occupancy in late Summer 2018 with the remainder of the development estimated for 100% completion by Spring 2019. Further units will become available on a site-by-site basis as completed and approved for occupancy.

THE PROCESS

  • Residences will be selected by a lottery
  • Applicants not selected will be placed on a waitlist and notified upon further unit availability
  • Section 8 rent-assisted units available
  • Utility allowance: resident pays gas/electric/air conditioning
  • ADA units available for persons with mobility, hearing or vision impairments
  • 8 permanent supportive housing units and support services available for homeless veterans and the chronically homeless
